New OpEd on Bikeshare, Micromobility in Dayton

October 9, 2025 by Andrew Walsh

I wrote an oped for the Dayton Daily News about bikeshare and micromobility options in Dayton and why they matter!

I was inspired to do something after the longtime Link bikeshare program shut down a little over a year ago and then the Spin scooters left Dayton too this past summer.

For years I used Dayton’s Link bikes constantly — to get to and from work, run errands, and make quick trips between downtown and the surrounding historic neighborhoods that are only a couple of miles apart.

Those short rides added up to something bigger: more accessibility, more customers for local businesses, and more options for getting around without always having to rely on a car (and needing to take up a parking space).

Now with both bikeshare and scooters gone, Dayton has lost a valuable part of its transportation ecosystem.

I hope this piece can help start a conversation about how we can build a more connected, accessible city:
