I’ve been leading walking tours in Dayton off and on for a few years now, and this summer I’m excited to have gotten a chance to establish a more regular series.
I partnered up with the Downtown Dayton Partnership and their Curio at Courthouse Square lunchtime programming to do a series of tours on Wednesdays at Noon.
The specific tour is designed to be accessible for as many people as possible and is a shorter timeframe (just 12-1pm) to accommodate people who are using their lunch hour.
It is at its core a loop of just a couple blocks around Courthouse Square and the Dayton Arcade, but it is a deeper look at blocks that I think are extremely important to both Dayton’s past and present.
I aim to cover history, architecture, and what’s happening now.
I talk about buildings connected to Dayton’s commercial and industrial heyday; the impact of the Great Flood of 1913 and urban renewal; and also delve into current redevelopment projects reshaping the core of the city.
So far I’ve done two dates in June and have 3 more scheduled for July. I’ve been excited to see a great positive response and a lot of people who have been excited to some spend their lunch hour exploring the center of Downtown Dayton.
You can see these (and all my events) and register for them on my Dayton Vistas Events page.
