Now that my book is released I’ve been doing some local events and signings to help promote it. They’ve gone pretty well! I had two signings in the Oregon District, one at Bonnett’s book store and the other at Heart Mercantile, a cool shop that recently started stocking a few books of local interest including my own. At both events I had quite a few visitors and had some good conversations about Dayton and the book. It was nice to be set out right on Fifth St. at my table so that those dining and shopping in the Oregon passed right by. I also had a good conversation with a man who worked at NCR in the 1970s and had inherited a couple of interesting artifacts that he’s kept ever since. He recounted several tales of NCR history, some of which were also in the book!
I also had the opportunity to give a book presentation at Carillon Historical Park, which meant a lot to me since my own visits to the park over the past few years were a great inspiration for my research. I covered three sites from the book and showed old pictures and maps as well as a few contemporary shots for reference. The audience asked some great questions too.
Next up I go to Dayton Metro Library’s downtown branch for a presentation on the evening of July 10. After that I’ll have book signings at Barnes and Noble (at Dayton Mall) and Books and Co (at the Greene) at the end of July. And if you’d like to buy a copy of Lost Dayton, Ohio, feel free to contact me directly if you’re in the Dayton area, or you can get one on Amazon. Here in Dayton you can also find it at Heart, Carillon Park, the Dayton Art Institute, and the larger chain retailers.
Below are some pictures from my events so far:

Andrew. Listened to your fascinating interview on WYSO today. I’m a Dayton born native and currently live in Centerville. Would love to meet you and talk “shop” on Dayton. Ironically working on articles for Gem City Market newsletter re history of Dayton View where I grew up in 1960’s. Sooo…we need to do lunch!
